Antony and the Johnsons was first formed by Anohni in 1998. Her first record, the self titled “Antony and the Johnsons” was released in 2000 by David Tibet of Current 93 on the Durtro label. Anohni’s second album “I Am A Bird Now” was released in 2005 to positive reviews. The album featured guest appearances by Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright, Boy George and Devendra Banhart. The album later received the Mercury Award for the best UK album of 2005.
Antony and the Johnsons’ third album “The Crying Light” was released in January 2009 and peaked at number 1 on the European Billboard charts. Antony and the Johnsons released their 4th full length album “Swanlights” in October of 2010. The album featured a duet with Björk called Flétta. At the same time an art book of the same title of Anohni’s drawings, photographs and poetry was released through Abrams Image.
