Indie pop quartet Wild Moccasins weave shimmering guitar with bright co-ed vocal harmonies to create a reinvigorated take on jangle pop wise beyond the band’s years. Singer/guitarist Cody Swann and Zahira Gutierrez started playing acoustic guitar and singing together for fun in 2007, but as they shared their songs with friends, it grew into a full-fledged band with the addition of guitarist Andrew Lee, bassist Nicholas Cody, and drummer Justin Martinez that fall. A year later, they debuted with the self-released EP Diamonds for Constellations, turning heads along the way thanks to their energetic live shows.
Another self-released EP, Microscopic Metronomes, followed in 2009 on the heels of their South by Southwest debut, and won the band Best EP honors in the Houston Press Music Awards. Skin Collision Past, the band’s first full-length release, arrived the following year for Team Science. The rest of 2010 saw many changes for Wild Moccasins, as drummer Martinez left and John Baldwin stepped in, and the band was signed to the New West label after its president caught them in concert. New West reissued Skin Collision Past in spring 2011 as a deluxe edition, bundling the LP with Microscopic Metronomes. Their New West follow-up album, 88 92, was released in January of 2014.
Wild Moccasins is available for corporate events, private shows, milestone celebrations (birthday, anniversary), fundraisers, festivals, and more.
