Thanks for visiting! My next novel, THE MUSE, will be published in the UK on 30th June 2016 and in the USA shortly after, and 24 more countries in 2017. Set in civil-war Spain and 60s London, it focuses on four women – Odelle Bastien, Olive Schloss, Teresa Robles and Marjorie Quick – and the story of the long-lost painting which connects them all. Check out my visual research on Pinterest.
In 2014 my first novel, THE MINIATURIST, was published. I was profiled as a debut author in The Observer, and I also appeared in the Guardian, the Sunday Times Culture and Style Magazines, the Evening Standard and the Telegraph. It was recommended in Stylist Magazine, Psychologies, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, Grazia, the Sunday Times and Harper’s Bazaar. Here I am on a canal on Dutch TV, talking about the book, talking in-depth about the themes of the book for Australian radio and Open Book for BBC Radio 4, and on BBC News 24 about the book becoming a bestseller. By 2015, over a million copies of THE MINIATURIST had been sold. It was a Sunday Times top 10 for three months, Christmas no.1 in the UK, and a New York Times bestseller. It’s been published in 36 languages – so, you know, there’s no excuse. It’s not like there are other books to read. *eyes TBR pile*.
As a non-fiction writer, I have written essays for the Wall Street Journal, The Independent, Vogue, Elle, Red magazine, Grazia, Lonely Planet Traveller and The Spectator. Harpers Bazaar US and Stylist have published my short stories.
