Hunter & the Gators formed in 1991. Led by keyboardist/lead vocalist Hunter Gibson, a professional musician since 1982, this group from Jackson, Mississippi, plays a wide variety of music ranging from the fifties to the present.

Hunter has recorded three CD’s as a solo artist.. In 1989, he released his debut album, “The Unopened Door.” The title track received radio airplay throughout the South, and the album received national attention for its production. “Fountain of Youth,” Hunter’s second release, came out in 1993. Its first single “Kymberly” started receiving airplay on Jackson station B95.5, and within the first week, it was the fifth most requested song, competing with national hits. His latest CD “The Home Sessions” came out in 1998. It continues to receive local radio airplay.

Hunter has opened for Greg Allman, Starship, Better Than Ezra, Irma Thomas, and the Radiators, and he has performed with such artists as Percy Sledge, Tom Kiefer (from Cinderella),Fingers Taylor and Mike Utley (from Jimmy Buffett’s band.)
