Bjork Guomundsdottie is a famous Icelander singer of the alternative music. She is also known for writing her own songs and producing her albums. Bjork was born and brought up in Reykjavik, Iceland and took interest in the music from a very young age.

She was only 12 years old when her first recorded album ‘Bjork’ came out that got her attention from the record labels. Bjork has been a part of many bands like ‘Spit and Snot’, ‘Jam-80’, ‘Exodus’ and ‘Sugarcubes’. She has released seven full studio albums and many remixed and live recordings versions of her songs.

Bjork has over the period of time in her musical career worked with famous artists like: Matmos, DJ Thomas Knak, zeena Parkins, Timbaland, Thom Yorke, Tagaq, Rahzel, Dokaka, Mike Patton, Robert Wyatt, Mark Bell, etc. She has also worked in movies like ‘Dancer in the Dark’, for which she was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival, ‘Drawing Restraint 9’, etc.

Bjork is also a proud winner of an Academy award for the original sound track that she sang for the movie ‘Selmasongs’. She lives with her long term partner Matthew Barney and has a daughter with him. She also has a grown up son with her former partner and band mate from ‘Sugarcubes’ Thor Eldon.
